- Hello SS users. I am currently using SS ver. 3.3 REGISTERED on an
- A3000 - AmigaDos 3.1, and using MacSystem software version 7.0.1 that
- I obtained from my MacPower book. I boot the system from an AMAX
- partition that I created for my old AMAX II cartridge system that no
- longer runs on AmigaDos 3.1. This amax partition is "custom file
- system" to turn off its icon on the workbench, and therefore ss does
- not "see it" with "choose" in the settings screen for devices set up.
- I entered the name of the partition manually in the string gadget.I
- understand that shapeshifter analyzes the partition on run time. My
- emulated mac boots up smartly from this partition.
-
- 1. Is my Amax partition or adjacent partitions in danger of data loss
- or being overwritten by ss if the Device Disk text gadgets are not
- filled in before run time. I assume that ss analyzes the partition
- for me at run time and this is thus not a worry ??
-
- 2. If I run Netscape ver 1.0, it will hang up half way through the
- download of the Netscape home page. (Using mactcp and macslip with
- USRobotics mac and fax 28.8 modem. Eudora works fine !) Is this
- because I don't have Quick time on my machine? Quick time was not
- provided with MacPowerBook system software. If so where should Qick
- time be put ? In the control panel?
-
- 3. Does SS support a ram disk ? My memory control panel on the lap top
- has a ram disk option, but the system 7.0.1 Mac software I bought for
- my Amax emulator did not have a ram option in the memory control
- panel. Would any harm be done if I swapped memory control panels ?
-
- Thank you in advance for any help on these questions! Please reply in
- this newsgroup or by email if you prefer.
-
- Hats off to Christian Bauer for a truely impressive piece of software!
- Christian - Danke ! Ist sehr gut !!!
